The sweep-stake has taken place and would you believe it, the MD picked out Brazil!

However, to spread the winnings the losing team will take home some of the cash.

So, although we would love to see the World Cup coming home to England, the chance of winning the cash jackpot here has some of the Whiteghyll team abandoning their patriotic spirit and silently praying for another country to win the tournament!! For the good of the country, let us hope that those prayers are not answered.

This year’s Grand National has provided a buzz at Whiteghyll. Most people know how much the team here love the races. A trip to the races afterall is our annual ‘it’s all on Whiteghyll, except your bets’ treat. With a few cries and sighs, the majority of the team do like a flutter and the usual £1 per ticket draw was prepared for this year’s race.

One lucky winner will take the lot!

We were hoping that our very own Rockin’ Red Hope would have made it to the starting line, but the decision was made that he should sit this one out in preparation for the Wibsey Horse Fair and the opportunity to win ‘Best in show’ for the second year running.

Place your bets and good luck!! We hope that you are feeling lucky!

The competition was tough and the judging panel were up all night to decide which poems could take centre stage on our rotating homepage image.

Take a look at our homepage during February to see the top four poems. Our products may be made from plastic but it is clear that our hearts are not (especially when there are cash prizes to be won!)

Whiteghyll are delighted with our new website and Content Management System, which has been created by Qwerty Web & Graphic Design.

Working with Qwerty has been a fantastic experience. During the design process they were extremely patient with Whiteghyll and always supported and advised on our vision for our new website design and it’s functionality.

Qwerty also provided full training on the CMS and are still constantly at the other end of the telephone advising us if and when we have any problems.

We can not recommend Qwerty Web and Graphic Design enough. They can do anything that you ask for. It has been an extremly fun and enjoyable experience. We are looking forward to working on our next project with them and we promise to stock up on head ache tablets for the Qwerty team, since we can be very ‘visionary’ at times.

As part of a corporate strategy review and following a recent business study, Whiteghyll are to introduce the Quality Management System.

The QMS achieved will satisfy the standards and criteria laid down in ISO 9001. Senior management recognise that the proposed system will provide the framework needed to monitor and improve performance in many areas.

The new procedures will improve the way that Whiteghyll operates, helping us to improve market share, drive down costs, maintain effective risk management and provide all of our customers with a high level of satisfaction.

Through alterations to our daily operational routines or the challenge of working with new clients, it is hoped that this investment will benefit the whole organisation as well as each individual within the company.

Whiteghyll attracts attention at Wembley stadium, Carnegie Challenge Cup Final 2009

At the beginning of August, Whiteghyll were approached for sponsorship by the all female fan club ‘TEAM ROBBO’ who support Huddersfield Giants’ scrum half Luke Robinson in all of his rubgy league appearances.

Whiteghyll could not refuse the opportunity to help out the girls especially since their presence at many rubgy league stadiums has been causing a stir. So much so that when opening most local newspapers and national broadsheets prior to the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley between the Huddersfield Giants and Warrington Wolves, TEAM ROBBO could be read about daily.

TEAM ROBBO are an exceptional group of ladies who always have a smile on their beautiful faces and are true ambassadors for all supporters of rugby league and it is our pleasure to be gaining fantastic exposure through their enjoyment of the game and support of Luke Robinson.

Catch them waving their TEAM ROBBO banners and wearing their new t-shirts provided by Whiteghyll, at a rugby league stadium near you! (Or your local public house.)

This year 109 merry souls set off for Herriot country and the journey North up the A1 on Saturday August 1st for Thirsk races. Our girls and boys really did scrub up well and were dressed for the occasion. The bash was an open invitation to all members of staff along with a guest of their choice to have a day out on the company. With the skies threatening there was of course the awful dilemma faced by the ladies on what to wear as downpours were forecast for later in the day. Within the race course grounds we were situated in a lovely spacious room called the Manton Suite, overlooking the parade ring.

A party atmosphere followed the dignified start to the day once our workforce and guests found their feet, which ultimately led them towards the free bar and the fantastic buffet to help soak up some of the alcohol. Although nobody went home “shirtless,” the bookies clearly raked in the well earned cash of our troops.

At the end of the last race the bar was closed for 10 minutes whilst a presentation of the raffle prizes were presented to the lucky winners of the various competitions held throughout the afternoon. Following the prize presentations, John Owen delivered a big thank you to the staff members and their partners for the dedication and the fantastic effort that they have all provided to the company during the difficult times experienced this year. He stated that all should feel very proud of the manufacturing achievements to date and that the Whiteghyll staff are a credit to the organisation.

The day ended with everyone getting slightly worse for wear as the dreaded drink took its toll. The people on Bus one quickly returned to the bar in Bradford, thankful to the Flying Express having a toilet on board. Unfortunately the other two buses proceeded to take the scenic route home with many stops along the way. It is fair to say that a great day was had by all.

Following several years of waste segregation and recycling, using in-house procedures, the Directors have decided to take a more formal and documented approach to the way that we handle waste management and the effect that this has on the environment. Continuous improvement in environmental management is an essential element within our overall business plan. We believe that increased productivity and quality standards can be achieved through minimising waste, pollution and the correct consumption of resources.

The company is implementing an Environmental Policy to drive forward improvements in the environmental performance of the business and it is intended that all company employees are made aware of this decision and encouraged to fully support this initiative.

The documented system is designed to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004 and it is anticipated the company will achieve certificated compliance by December 2009.
